If you’ve ever opened an instruction manual for a game, you’ll know that they’re full of warnings and disclaimers.<\/p>\n

“You may experience seizures.”<\/p>\n

“Do not play on\u00c2\u00a0rear projection TV.”<\/p>\n

“Tighten the wrist strap and watch your surroundings.”<\/p>\n

“This system may cause permanent vision damage to children under 7.”<\/p>\n

And so on…<\/p>\n

Hell, Nintendo games often have a separate pamphlet that’s several pages long, going into great detail about how the game might injure you, cause you to injure others, or somehow destroy everything in your house.<\/p>\n

But this week, I found the very best disclaimer that I’ve ever seen on a game.\u00c2\u00a0 It was located on the back of the instruction manual for the 3DO game “Gridders”.<\/p>\n

\u00c2\u00a0WARNING: This product is composed of 100% matter.\u00c2\u00a0 If it comes into contact with an equivalent amount of anti-matter, it will be instantly and completely destroyed.\u00c2\u00a0 Manufacturer does not warrant the product against this and accepts no blame should this event occur.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Those three sentences alone are justification and redemption\u00c2\u00a0for the existence of the 3DO.<\/p>\n
