<\/a><\/p>\nI recently found a nice place to hang it on my wall, near the front door.<\/p>\n
It’s not just any flag.<\/p>\n
It is a flag that flew over hallowed ground outside of Shanksville, PA, where a group of forty American heroes gave their lives on September 11th, 2001.<\/p>\n This is their<\/em> flag.<\/p>\n They gave their lives in defense of this flag.<\/p>\n They gave their lives in defense of our country.<\/p>\n They gave their lives in defense of our Constitution.<\/p>\n They gave their lives in defense of our way of life.<\/p>\n They did not give their lives in defense of fear or hatred or cowardice or bigotry.<\/p>\n This is my copy of the Constitution.<\/p>\n You should read it some day.\u00c2\u00a0 It is important.\u00c2\u00a0 It is short.<\/p>\n I bought my copy of the Constitution at Manzanar.<\/p>\n Manzanar was one of the many “War Relocation Centers” during World War II.\u00c2\u00a0 More than ten thousand people were held prisoner at Manzanar.<\/p>\n They were not criminals.<\/p>\n They were not spies.<\/p>\n They were not the enemy.<\/p>\n They had not attacked us.<\/p>\n They were Japanese.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n They were patriotic American citizens.<\/p>\n They were rounded up and sent to a prison in the desert because of fear and hatred and cowardice and bigotry.<\/p>\n I bought my copy of the Constitution at Manzanar to serve as a reminder.<\/p>\n A reminder of what America can be.<\/p>\n A reminder of what America is.<\/p>\n A reminder of what America must never be again.<\/p>\n This is my copy of the Qur’an.<\/p>\n I am not going to burn it.<\/p>\n I am not going to tear it apart.<\/p>\n I am not going to insult it.<\/p>\n I am not going to desecrate it.<\/p>\n I am going to put it on a shelf and maybe read parts of it now and then.<\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n
