{"id":1171,"date":"2010-02-27T22:18:22","date_gmt":"2010-02-28T06:18:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mathpirate.net\/log\/?p=1171"},"modified":"2010-02-27T22:18:22","modified_gmt":"2010-02-28T06:18:22","slug":"i-haz-a-performance-problem","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mathpirate.net\/log\/2010\/02\/27\/i-haz-a-performance-problem\/","title":{"rendered":"I HAZ A PERFORMANCE PROBLEM"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This is tough to admit, but I&#8217;m having a problem with my performance.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m able to recognize the bombs and the buckets, ((I&#8217;m supposed to be recognizing the bomber, too, but for some reason, it&#8217;s not showing up yet&#8230;)) but now I have a problem with speed.\u00c2\u00a0 You see, the object detection seems to be about 55 ms a pop.\u00c2\u00a0 That&#8217;s fine, if you&#8217;re just trying to find objects in an image.\u00c2\u00a0 Trouble is, once you add in a real time component and try to perform three separate detections, well, then you have a bit of a problem.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s now taking about 160-170 ms just to find the screen elements.\u00c2\u00a0 1\/6th of a second per frame is not acceptable.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m going to have to take care of this fast.\u00c2\u00a0 I don&#8217;t know that it&#8217;s possible to play this game with a sixth of a second reaction time.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This is tough to admit, but I&#8217;m having a problem with my performance.
